How to Choose a Trip

Your Outfitter Makes All the Difference

There are many factors that go into selecting a river trip. The most important, by far, is finding an experienced outfitter you can trust. Our strict criteria permit only the finest outfitters in the country to belong to Adventure Gateway. This means you can select an outfitter and a river trip with confidence when you choose from the Adventure Gateway collection.

Different Strokes for Different Folks

Hiking Trip with Holiday ExpeditionsThe next thing you’ll want to decide is: What kind of river adventure is right for you? Are you looking for a family-friendly adventure? Or, is high-octane whitewater rafting your thing? Perhaps you prefer the tranquility of canoeing? Are there other adventures you’d like to experience, such as soaring along a zipline or snowmobiling in backcountry?

How much time will you have---a few hours or a couple of weeks? Whatever your interests, time allowances, skill
level, or age, our members offer rafting and canoeing vacations to suit most everyone, as well as a host of other unique adventure activities with broad guest appeal.

Lodging Considerations

Another important consideration for a river trip is lodging. For some, there is nothing more enjoyable than a night spent on the gravel bar
with the sound of the river lulling them to sleep. Others prefer the comfort of a cozy cabin, perhaps one with a hot tub or Jacuzzi to slip
into after a day of river running. There are also those who feel the perfect adventure vacation includes balanced portions of both: a few days of river camping, followed by a few days of cabin comfort. Several Adventure Gateway outfitters offer on-site lodging services, such as quality rental cabins, yurts, lodges, and campground facilities. When booking your river trip (especially if you’re not overnighting on the river), check with the outfitter about the lodging opportunities available either on-site or in the immediate area.

Great Trips Combine Fun with Learning

You can count on an Adventure Gateway outfitter to intertwine paddling fun with moments of meaningful discovery: learning opportunities that will greatly enhance your appreciation for, and enjoyment of the river’s natural, botanical, historical, geological, and cultural qualities.
