Famous Colorado Whitewater
The Gunnison River Gorge is set in western Colorado just below Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The remoteness of this river is evident from the outset as we utilize pack horses and mules to transport our whitewater rafts and equipment one mile down Chukar Creek Trail to the start of this two day adventure.
The Gunnison Gorge has much more to offer than just heart pounding rapids like The Narrows and The Squeeze. We will see Bighorn Sheep and Mule Deer grazing through the Scrub Oak, Greasewood and Ponderosa Pine groves that line the river. The jagged cliffs are home to Golden Eagles, Red Tailed Hawks, Falcons and a number of other birds of prey, while River Otters and a healthy Trout population swim the waters around us. Bring your fishing license along if you would like to fish on the river or at camp while your guides prepare delicious and hearty meals. We often take side hikes to interesting canyons along the way exploring waterfalls and other beauties of Colorado.
With abundant wildlife, fine whitewater and rugged beauty, the Gunnison Gorge is sure to be a wonderful wilderness trip for your whole family or group of friends. Join us this spring or fall as we embark on an adventure to remember!
