Family Rafters on the Kennebec RiverThe Kennebec River, located in the heart of Maine's whitewater country, is NEOC's most popular rafting trip. It is ideal for families and first time rafters.

The dam-controlled Kennebec River runs daily with 12 miles of fast and deep water. The first 6 miles of the adventure in the upper Kennebec Gorge is nearly continuous whitewater where you'll ride the thrilling roller coaster waves of the Rock Garden, Big Mama and the Three Sisters, the Alleyway, and then plunge into boiling Magic Falls.

Paddle your way down the lower river on sit-on-top kayaks to look for wildlife, swim alongside your raft, or enjoy your guide’s unique entertainment. Finish your day with a lakeside barbecue at our rafting base.

Minimum age: Upper River (first 6 miles) – age 10/ Lower River – age 7
