Penobscot Rafting with NEOCRafting on the Penobscot River is one of the most spectacular and challenging river experiences in the Eastern U.S. The Penobscot River enjoys the reputation as a river of contrasts as it alternates between exhilarating rapids and breathtaking scenery. Rapids on the Penobscot River are short with sheer drops plunging into calm pools.

Our trip begins on the calmer part of the river allowing guests to warm up before tackling the more challenging Ripogenus Gorge section in the afternoon. The morning includes Class I to III rapids, an opportunity to surf, a stop at a natural rock water slide, and a hearty riverside barbeque to build energy for the afternoon.

After lunch we tackle Ripogenus Gorge, the most turbulent part of the river, dropping over 70 feet per mile through a narrow, granite-walled canyon. Exterminator and The Cribworks, both Class V rapids, and an opportunity for great surfing at Big A highlight this section.

Minimum Age: Lower River and Soft Adventure - Family Trips – age 6 / Regular River Trips - age 15.
